What a stupid sport this is! Lovely and windy all morning so I head acros
to the beach with lots of kit. It doesn't seem that windy so I rig a 5.6m
and my big board but as I do I see a squall coming in so leave that rigged
and also rig a 5m and my smaller board. The squall hits with 35 knot winds
and I walk down to the waters edge, I have one run over-powered with the
5m, wishing I'd rigged the 4.5m get out the back, gybe and the wind
drops.
So I wobble and then swim back in, walk back upwind, get the 5.6m and big
board and have another go. Again, overpowered at first, then no wind at all
so I get smashed by a big wave and have another big swim. Walk back upwind
and spend an hour trying to get going but there just isn't enough wind. I
do manage one more slightly successful run right out the back, but then end
up overpowered on the 5.6m. I walk back up the beach to get my smaller kit
as the wind dies again. Rather than give it another go with the bigger kit
I give up and go home.
Yep, you've guessed it, the wind then blows at 30 knots for the rest of the
afternoon and has picked up even more now! Grrrr.
